Reconstruction of tissues of anterior teeth following trauma using ceramic facings in order to have a chance of improving aesthetics

Streszczenie

Najczęstszym urazem zębów u osób dorosłych jest złamanie korony w obrębie szkliwa i zębiny bez obnażenia miazgi. W takiej sytuacji rekonstrukcji utraconych tkanek dokonuje się najczęściej za pomocą materiału kompozytowego. Należy jednak rozważyć, czy lepszym rozwiązaniem nie jest zastosowanie licówek ceramicznych, ze względu na ich odporność mechaniczno-chemiczną. W pracy przedstawiono przypadek kliniczny, w którym uraz zębów siecznych górnych wykorzystano do dokonania korekty estetycznej ustawienia osi długich zębów w łuku zębowym.

Summary

The most common trauma to teeth in adults is fracture of the crown in the region of the enamel and dentine without pulp exposure. In such a situation the reconstruction of missing tissues is most commonly by use of composite material. It should, however, be considered whether a better solution is to use ceramic facings, due to their mechanical-chemical resistance. The study describes a clinical case in which trauma to upper incisors was utilised along the long axis of the teeth to make an aesthetic correction in the dental arch.
