Zastosowanie tomografii wolumetrycznej w periodontologii nie jest jeszcze szeroko zbadane, ale w przypadku destrukcji tkanki kostnej w chorobie przyzębia tomografia wolumetryczna pozwala na trójwymiarową ocenę ubytków kostnych. Celem pracy było przedstawienie możliwości diagnostycznych tomografii wolumetrycznej u pacjentów z chorobą przyzębia. Materiał stanowiły kolejne badania CBCT wykonane w latach 2009-2010 aparatem Galileos (Sirona, Niemcy) i opracowane z użyciem oprogramowania Galaxis. Zbadano możliwości diagnostyczne tomografii wolumetrycznej w odniesieniu do choroby przyzębia w różnych stopniach zaawansowania. Stwierdzono, że przy obecnym stopniu rozwoju technologii badanie CBCT i cyfrowe zdjęcia wewnątrzustne są komplementarnymi metodami obrazowania choroby przyzębia.

The use of volumetric tomography in periodontology has not yet been widely explored, but in the case of destruction of bony tissue in periodontal disease, volumetric tomography allows for three-dimensional evaluation of bony defects. The aim of the study was to present the diagnostic possibilities of volumetric tomography in patients with periodontal disease. The material consisted of successive CBCT examinations carried out in the years 2009-2010 with the Galileos (Sirona, Germany) apparatus and the Galaxis computer program. The diagnostic possibilities of volumetric tomography in relation to periodontal disease at various levels of advancement were examined. It was found that with the present level of technological development, CBCT examinations and intraoral digital pictures are complementary methods for imaging periodontal disease.
