Diagnostics and treatment of cavernous hemangioma of the maxillary gingiva. A case report

Streszczenie
Celem pracy jest prezentacja przypadku 63-letniego ogólnie zdrowego pacjenta ze zmianą barwną w obrębie dziąsła szczęki. W pracy opisano trudności diagnostyczne zmian barwnych w jamie ustnej oraz przedstawiono schemat postępowania diagnostyczno-leczniczego. W opisanym przypadku wstępne rozpoznanie kliniczne (plama barwnikowa) nie zostało potwierdzone w badaniu histopatologicznym (naczyniak jamisty). Mimo to uzyskano estetyczny i stabilny wynik leczenia chirurgicznego, potwierdzony w obserwacji 7-letniej.

Abstract
The aim of the study is to present a case of a 63-year-old generally healthy patient with a discoloration within the maxillary gingiva. The paper  describes the diagnostic diffi culties of pigmented lesions in the oral cavity and presents a diagnostic and therapeutic approach. In the described case, the initial clinical diagnosis (melanotic macule) was not confi rmed in the histopathological examination (cavernous hemangioma). Despite this, an aesthetic and stable result of surgical treatment was obtained in a seven-year observation.
