PART FIVE: DENTAL RADIOGRAPHY
Patient: Good morning Doctor!
Doctor : Good morning.
Patient: I have an appointment with you, because in two weeks I’m going abroad and I’m not planning to come within the next six months. Of course I could go to see a dentist while I’m abroad, however I would prefer not to do it.
Doctor: I see. Let me check your oral cavity. I understand that at this time, nothing hurts or worries you, doesn’t it?
Patient: Yes. It seems to me that everything is fine. You replaced one ff my fillings a year ago.
Doctor: Please open your mouth wide. Yes, indeed , the condition of your teeth is quite good. One thing worries me though . Neither the explorer or thread are not hooking in the space between the molars on the lower right hand side, but the enamel is slightly opaque. Sometimes this indicates a decay , and because you are leaving I would like to exclude the loss in the contact surface of the tooth. You will have to take an X-ray. Ideally, it should be a bite -wing image . In this way I’ll be able to see if something bad is happening on the contact surfaces of the upper teeth. There are several fillings.
Patient: No problem. There are still two weeks, so there is still plenty of time.
Doctor: Here you are, it is a referral for your x-rays and I’ll see you the day after tomorrow, that is Thursday, at 4p.m.
Patient: Thank you. See you on Thursday.
On Thursday Afternoon
Patient: Good Afternoon! I’ve come to a scheduled appointment and as you recommended last time, I took an X-ray . Is there any loss ?
Doctor: Good Afternoon! Please sit down. Let me turn a negatoscope on. Yes, I can see one. It is not big, however it requires a filling.
Patient: Will a crown be necessary?
Doctor: No, absolutely not. Such cavities are filled with a special filling material . I recommend you a light cured composite material , which is the shade of your tooth. You will not see any difference between the tooth and the crown . I'll do it during your next visit , as today I haven’t planned enough time; it will take about 45 minutes.
Patient: I 'm in a hurry , because I have an appointment with a dermatologist. Every time I come into the country I visit doctors because I do not want any unpleasant surprises when I travel abroad .
Doctor: I see. So I’ll see you tomorrow. Just come for sure, please , because I plan to take three days off next week.
Patient: I will come for sure. See you tomorrow!
