Celem pracy było zbadanie zależności między oceną radiologiczną układu stomatognatycznego a odległością między brzegiem dolnym otworu bródkowego a brzegiem dolnym żuchwy. Materiał stanowiło 877 cyfrowych zdjęć pantomograficznych pacjentów w wieku od 20 do 95 lat (średnia 48,69 lat) – 467 kobiet i 410 mężczyzn. Na zdjęciach określano stan układu stomatognatycznego. Po kalibracji zdjęć dokonywano pomiarów odległości między brzegiem dolnym żuchwy a dolnym brzegiem otworu bródkowego (h), korzystając z narzędzi oprogramowania Emago Advanced. Otrzymane dane poddano analizie statystycznej. Wykazano, że odległość między brzegiem dolnym otworu bródkowego i brzegiem dolnym żuchwy jest wartością względnie niezależną od stanu układu stomatognatycznego, ocenianego na zdjęciach pantomograficznych.

The aim of the study was to examine the dependence between a radiological evaluation of the stomatognathic system and the distance between inferior margin of mental foramen and inferior mandibular cortex. The material consisted of 877 digital pantomographic pictures of patients between the years of 20 to 95 years (mean 48.69 lat) – 467 females and 410 males. The state of the stomatognathic system was determined from the films. After calibration of the pictures measurements were made of the distance between inferior margin of mental foramen and inferior mandibular cortex (h) using Emago Advanced software. The data obtained was subjected to statistical analysis. It was shown that the distance between inferior margin of mental foramen and inferior mandibular cortex is a value relatively independent of the state of the stomatognathic system, as evaluated from pantomographs.
