Self assessment of students of Medical University in Lublin – graduated during years 2004-2010 regarding independent dental practice in conservative dentistry and endodontics

Celem pracy było zbadanie opinii absolwentów Oddziału Stomatologii Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Lublinie, dotyczącej przygotowania do samodzielnego wykonywania zawodu lekarza w dziedzinie stomatologii zachowawczej i endodoncji. Badaniem objęto 575 studentów V roku stomatologii, kończących studia w latach 2004-2010. Materiał badań stanowiła anonimowa ankieta, którą studenci wypełniali po egzaminie dyplomowym, oceniając zakończony cykl zajęć klinicznych i teoretycznych. Wyniki badań wykazały, że studenci pozytywnie ocenili uzyskane w toku nauczania przeddyplomowego przygotowanie do samodzielnego wykonywania pracy w dziedzinie stomatologii zachowawczej i endodoncji i że stanie się ono dobrym punktem wyjścia do stałego i samodzielnego uaktualniania wiedzy i umiejętności praktycznych wynikających z istoty zawodu lekarza stomatologa.

Summary
The aim of the study was to examine the opinion of graduated dental students from the Dental Department, Medical University, Lublin regarding their preparation for independent dental practice in the fields of conservative dentistry and endodontics. The study involved 575 Vth Year dental students who finished their studies during the years 2004-2010. The material studied was an anonymous questionnaire that students filled in after the final examination, evaluating the completed course of clinical and theoretical studies. The results showed that students positively assessed what they obtained from the teaching in preparation for independent practice in conservative dentistry and endodontics. This they considered to be a good point of departure for permanent and independent updating of the knowledge and practical skills that come from the essence of the profession of the dentist.
