Immediate implantation in the aesthetic zone with the use of the socket-shield technique – case study

Streszczenie
Zabieg ekstrakcji zęba wiąże się z zanikiem pionowym i poprzecznym kości wyrostka zębodołowego. W wyniku jego przebudowy dochodzi nie tylko do zwężenia wyrostka, lecz także do zaburzenia innych struktur anatomicznych w obrębie zębodołu, szczególnie brodawek międzyzębowych – warunkujących estetyczny sukces przyszłej rekonstrukcji protetycznej. Odbudowa pojedynczego braku zębowego jest jednym z najczęstszych wskazań do zabiegu wszczepienia implantu. Osiągnięcie ostatecznego efektu porównywalnego z naturalnym w przypadku braku w obrębie zębów siecznych szczęki nie jest oczywiste. Jest to inspiracją dla lekarzy praktyków do poszukiwania nowych rozwiązań klinicznych. Można do nich zaliczyć zastosowanie techniki tarczy zębodołowej (socket shield technique – SST) z natychmiastową implantacją. W przedstawionym przypadku zastosowano ten sposób leczenia w celu uzupełnienia braku zębowego spowodowanego złamaniem zęba 21.
 
Abstract
Tooth extraction procedure is associated with vertical and lateral atrophy of the alveolar ridge. Bone remodeling leads to alveolar ridge narrowing and also to disturbances in other anatomical structure of alveolus. Especially interdental papillae, which proper status is a condition of the aesthetic success of the future prosthetic reconstruction. The reconstruction of a single missing tooth is one of the most common indication for implant surgery. Achieving the final effect comparable to the natural one in case of the missing maxillary teeth is not obvious. This become an inspiration for practitioners to look for new clinical solutions. These include the use of the socket shield technique (SST) with immediate implantation. In the presented case, this method of treatment was used to restore the tooth loss caused by first upper incisor fracture.
