“Short story” of the use of gold in dentistry - review

Streszczenie
W artykule przedstawiono historię wykorzystania złota w stomatologii na przestrzeni około 3 tysięcy lat. Opisano najstarsze dowody potwierdzające stosowanie tego metalu szlachetnego przez różne cywilizacje. Omówiono niektóre wydarzenia historyczne decydujące o zmianie zainteresowania złotem w stomatologii, oraz zwrócono uwagę na jego aktualne zastosowanie.

Abstract
The article presents the history of the use of gold in dentistry over the course of about 3000 years. The oldest evidence confi rming the use of gold by various civilizations has been described. Some historical events determining the change of interest in gold in dentistry were discussed, and attention was paid to its current use.
