Alt-Ramec method used in Class III malocclusion treatment – review of the literature

Streszczenie

Alt-Ramec (alternating rapid maxillary expansion and constriction) oznacza naprzemienne szybkie poszerzanie i zwężanie szczęki. Procedura ta  została wprowadzona w celu uzyskania większego otwarcia szwów okołoszczękowych u pacjentów z wadą klasy III, którzy nie wymagają znacznego poszerzenia szczęki. Większość prac wykazuje jej większą skuteczność jako metody wspomagającej ortopedyczne wysuwanie szczęki w porównaniu z metodą RME.

Summary

Alt-Ramec is alternating rapid maxillary expansion and constriction. This procedure was introduced in order to achieve wider opening of circumaxillary sutures in patients with Class III malocclusion and who do not require marked maxillary widening. Most studies show its greater effectiveness as an auxiliary orthopedic method for protruding the maxilla when compared with the RME method.
