Vertical root fracture – case report

Streszczenie

Pionowe złamanie korzenia (VRF) jest bardzo trudnym  do zdiagnozowania powikłaniem, do którego dochodzi zazwyczaj z powodu zastosowania nadmiernej siły podczas kondensacji gutaperki w kanale, a także w następstwie naprężeń generowanych w trakcie cementowanie wkładów koronowo-korzeniowych. Objawy kliniczne zębów z VRF mogą sugerować niepowodzenie leczenia endodontycznego lub periodontologicznego. W pracy przedstawiono przypadek pionowego pęknięcia korzenia w zębie przedtrzonowym dolnym, do którego doszło po pięciu latach od przeprowadzonego leczenia endodontycznego.

 

Abstract

Vertical root fracture (VRF) is a very difficult complication to diagnose. It usually occurs due to using too much force during the proces of condensing guttapercha in the canal.  It also follows tensions generated during cementation of root-crown inserts. Clinical symptoms of teeth with VRF may suggest complications following endodontic or periodontal treatment. The study describes a case of vertical fracture in a lower premolar tooth that occured five years after endodontic treatment.
